Unseasonably warm weather has led to increased visitor numbers at Lake Pueblo State Park, causing the park to transition into peak operational mode. The park's ranger, Jennifer Steinman, warned that the disparity between air and water temperatures can cause unexpected emergency conditions. Life jackets are the most critical piece of safety equipment, with specific requirements for life jacket use based on age. Children under age 13 must wear a life jacket at all times while on the water, while individuals ages 13 and older must have a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket available. Additionally, Steinman advised boaters and paddlers to stay within their skill levels and account for sudden environmental shifts.
