Ilia Malinin, the defending two-time world champion, has rebounded from a disappointing performance at the figure skating world championships in Prague. Despite leading the pack after the short program with 111.29 points, a series of falls and mistakes resulted in an eighth-place finish. Malinan, who entered the Milano-Cortina games as the heavy favorite, finished the short programs at 108.16 points. He finished the free skate with a score of 156.33 points.
