Some items, like flashlights and backup batteries, should stay in your home and car kits year-round. The National Weather Service recommends storing supplies in a backpack or storage tub that can be taken along in an evacuation or kept in place at home. The most in-demand items are batteries, power banks and flashlights, and customers are also stocking up on propane and Coleman fuel canisters. The NWS recommends including a dust mask or cotton t-shirt to help filter air and plastic sheeting and duct tape for sheltering in place.
