Tessie Hutcheson, a Central Florida woman, claims a hacker superimposed a photo of her standing next to a fake hospital image onto her Facebook page and used it to scam her friends out of thousands of dollars. The hacker then posted photos of various items for sale on her page, including vehicles, a boat, a watch, living room furniture, and a refrigerator. Hutchesons was locked out of her account in late March and estimates that the hacker defrauded her friends of at least $8,000. The image of the fake hospital photo has been used in similar Facebook scams around the world, often with other people digitally inserted into the image. So far, Hutheson has been unsuccessful in restoring her Facebook account, which contains memories spanning nearly two decades.
