Anthropic, an AI startup, has filed a lawsuit against the US government, President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, alleging that the Pentagon retaliated against Anthropic for protected activities. The lawsuit alleges that the government violated its Fifth Amendment rights to due process by effectively blacklisting the company without following required legal protocols. Anthropic also alleges that President DonaldTrump's decision to stop work with Anthropic was "ultra vires" or exceeded his legal authority. The company claims that the Defense Secretary's response to the company's status as a supply-chain risk violates the Administrative Procedure Act.
