German pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim, is launching a centre for artificial intelligence and machine learning in London as part of its strategy to expand its capabilities in pharmaceutical research and development. The centre will be located near King's Cross station in the Knowledge Quarter area of London, which hosts many AI companies. The move comes as drug companies are increasingly using AI to reduce time-consuming aspects of drug development, while industry leaders acknowledge the technology has not yet discovered major new molecules.
