The House Oversight Committee is investigating reports of the disappearances or deaths of at least 10 scientists and researchers working in US nuclear or rocket technology. The letters were sent to the FBI, Department of Energy, NASA, and Department of War requesting information about the missing personnel, including Michael David Hicks, who worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1998 to 2022. Hicks died in 2023, but no autopsy or cause of death has been publicly disclosed. Other missing personnel include NASA Lab Materials Processing Group Director Monica Reza and retired Air Force Gen. William Neil McCasland. The National Nuclear Security Administration is aware of reports related to employees of its labs, plants, and sites and is investigating mysterious deaths, suicides and vanishings.
