New London Received $34K From ‘Nickel Per Nip’ Fee

The "nickel per nip" environmental fee has generated over $22 million for local governments since its introduction in 2021, according to officials. The fee collects a 5-cent fee on miniature liquor bottles and distributes funds to 170 cities and towns across the state. The funds are used for environmental activities such as community cleanups, street sweeping, recycling programs, and even more.
