Kermit Gosnell, a former West Philadelphia doctor, was convicted in 2013 for multiple murders, including those of three infants and a patient. He was serving multiple life sentences for first-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Gosnell's clinic was known as the "house of horrors" for performing illegal abortions beyond the 24-week limit. Former employees alleged that he delivered babies still alive during these procedures. A 2010 investigation revealed that Gosnell had been trafficking prescription drugs from his clinic. He later pleaded guilty to 12 federal drug charges related to operating a pill mill.
