Colorectal cancer is increasing in younger adults, becoming the leading cause of cancer death in people younger than 50, according to the American Cancer Society. The society noted that people born in 1990 have double the risk of colon cancer and quadruple their risk of rectal cancer from those born in 1950. The recommended screening age for colonoscopy was lowered from 50 to 45 in 2021, and in 2025, teacher Jason Berg shared his colorecate diagnosis at 42. The rise in cases is largely due to lifestyle and diet changes, with high-processed foods, red meat, processed meats, sugary drinks, added sugars, and low in fiber contributing to the risk. The symptoms of colorectar cancer include constipation and anemia, and frequent frequent constipation. The warning signs include poor toilet habits and frequent alcohol consumption.
