The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and marks the opening of the museum’s Costume Institute spring exhibition. This year's theme is "Fashion is Art," and the gala will be co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour. The event has been known for its controversial fashion choices, with notable examples from Cher's "naked dress" in 1974 and Cara Delevingne and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's political statements in 2021. Prior to the 2026, there have been several controversial fashion moments, including a controversial white T-shirt dress for Doja Cat for the 2024 Met Galas.
