Federal Medicaid cuts create uncertainty for local Virginia hospitals, report states

Public Citizen's Eileen O'Grady, a non-profit consumer advocacy group, has highlighted the potential impacts of Medicaid cuts on local hospitals across the country over the next decade. She believes that 10 local hospitals in Virginia are at risk of closure due to these changes. One of the hospitals on the list is Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston. If Sentara closes, the closest hospital options would be in Danville or Roxboro, North Carolina. The report has been met with opposition from Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, who oppose the changes, arguing they contribute to tax cuts for the rich while the rest of Virginia pays the price.
