Judson ISD in Texas is facing a $37 million deficit, with the district's salaries accounting for 91% of the budget. Trustee Jose Macias Jr., the board member who was board president in previous years, attributed the deficit to shortages of teachers and funding issues. The district is also considering administrative and non-certified positions in administrative offices, or other positions, as well as potential staff cuts. The Trustee Poteet stated that certified teachers will still have a job with Judson ISd in the 2026-2027 school year. To improve the financial outlook, the board plans to put a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election on the November ballot to allow the district to use additional property tax revenue for school operations.
