A Hawaii jury has convicted anesthesiologist Gerhardt Konig of attempted manslaughter for attempting to push his wife, Arielle Konig, off a cliff and assault her during a hike in 2025. The charges stem from extreme mental or emotional disturbance and carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. Konig was convicted over a year after Arielle claimed that Gerhardt had tried to kill her but claimed he was acting in self-defense. The trial included testimonies from Arielle, a 37-year-old nuclear engineer, her stepson, and Gerhardt's son, Emile Konig.
