This move is part of a crackdown on the rise in injuries and fatalities linked to e-mobility devices. Meanwhile, Melbourne has banned rental e-scooters following a community revolt. The Road Transport Amendment (Non-registrable Motor Vehicles) Bill 2026 aims to curb the rise of high-powered, throttle-operated e-motorbikes linked to dangerous riding.
