Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is hosting its annual STEM Career Day for middle school students interested in careers in science, technology, engineering and math. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., free, but registration is required by March 16. Students will participate in a hands-on engineering activity, various STEM-related activities, and an informational fair. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for the construction of a new school in Akron, which will house both Pfeiffer Elementary and Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts. Ohio has awarded $7.6 million to 16 early care and education programs across the state, including two in Summit County. The funds come from a $60 million grant given to Ohio by the U.S. Department of Education.
