The incident occurred on March 4, when Mohave County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) deputies were attempting to arrest a domestic violence suspect who was armed and refused to comply with their commands. The suspect, identified as Johnny Manion Friend, died at the scene of the shooting. The remaining four deputies involved in the incident were identified as Sergeant David Kinowel, Detective Devin Godfrey, and Deputy Jose Cardenas.
