An SUV driven by a 62-year-old woman, who lost control of the vehicle, smashed into an Upper East Side jewelry shop just feet away from an outdoor seating area, causing serious injuries. The shop was closed at the time of the incident. The woman was transported to Weill Cornell Medical Center for treatment and is expected to recover. This incident comes just two weeks after a runaway yellow taxi crashed into a bodega and left two women injured.
