Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent responded angrily to NBC News host Kristen Welker's question about funding the Iran war on "Meet the Press" during a heated exchange on Sunday. Welker asked Besset whether the administration would ever raise taxes to fund Operation Epic Fury, an unpopular war against the Islamic theocracy. Despite initially attacking Welker’s premise but not directly answering her question, Bessents responded by stating that a tax increase is not what the administration is considering. The Pentagon is currently requesting $200 billion from Congress to continue funding the war in Iran.
