New startup, The Interaction Company of California, has developed an AI agent named Poke, a personal assistant that can take action on the user's behalf through a familiar interface. Poke was launched in March and can help with everyday tasks such as daily planning, managing your calendar, tracking your health and fitness, controlling your smart home, editing photos, and more. The company, backed by Spark Capital, General Catalyst, and other angels, has added another $10 million to its coffers and is now valued at $300 million post-money. Unlike other AI systems like OpenClaw, Poke operates over text messaging and does not require an app to install. However, regulatory action from the EU, Italy, and Brazil has opened probes to fight antitrust charges against Poke.
