The Maryland Office of the Attorney General has released body-worn camera footage from a fatal police-involved shooting involving the Howard County Police Department on March 1. The incident occurred outside the apartment complex where nearly a quarter of the units are allocated to individuals with disabilities and another 40% is affordable housing for seniors. The victim's mother, Dr. Jill Harrington, stated that the loss of Alex LaMorie, who was a victim of a cyber scam, triggered severe traumatic shame and an acute suicidal crisis for her and that the police response to her son's call for help was disturbing. Harrington also expressed her choice not to watch the body cam footage for protection of her mental health. The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland office of the AG released the footage, which was reviewed by others and summarized for her.
