L.A. Mayor Karen Bass has joined her rival, Councilwoman Nithya Raman, in supporting an unlimited state tax incentive for film and TV production. Bass, who is running for reelection, called for eliminating the cap, without providing an estimated cost. Raman had previously called for an uncapped tax credit, stating it was important to give studios certainty they would receive a state subsidy if they chose to film in California. Bass has also announced a pilot program to cut permit fees for “low impact” productions and a discount on parking costs.
