Former NBA player Greg Ostertag has been elected as mayor of Mount Vernon, Texas. He defeated the incumbent Brad Hyman by 245 votes to 210 votes and plans to focus on improving the town's image and attracting more visitors. Ostertagne, who has lived in the city for 11 years, is the owner of the sports bar Tag.
