Ricky Lam, the man accused of murdering a GuilFORD County woman and the disappearance of another woman, could face the death penalty if convicted in Davidson County Superior Court. Lam is also facing murder charges related to the death of Amber Schimmelpfenning and disappearance of Nancy Bunly within a year. His attorney argued that there isn't enough evidence to connect Lam to murder for this to be a capital case, but his contest was denied. The judge allowed proceedings to move forward as a capitol case, allowing for an evidence discovery process as the defense awaits the next court hearing. If convicted in this case, Lam could face a death penalty. He is set to appear in court on May 26th and is expected to be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty.
