A massive dinosaur animatronic was destroyed after being struck by lightning at Field Station: Dinosaurs in Derby, Kansas, causing heavy fire to ignite a three-story model, which is the longest ever constructed and nearly 60 tons of energy. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other exhibits. The restoration of the animatronics is expected to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. No injuries were reported.
