The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reduced the arrivals at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) by a third due to safety concerns and runway construction. The temporary runway project and a permanent rule change means SFO will drop from 54 plane arrivals an hour to 36. It is unclear if any flights will be canceled. The FAA stated that this rule change is not triggered by broader safety concerns, but only affects the San Francisco airport. The airport operates on two sets of parallel runways and the runway under construction is set to reopen on Oct. 2.
