Darien Cameras 'Disgusting' Overreach: Speaker At Meeting

The city of Darien, Ohio, has installed license plate reader cameras, but the speaker, Henry Fiorentino, claimed that they violate the Fourth Amendment right to track where people go, when they're not suspected of wrongdoing, and suggested that the city could install microphones on every street corner to record outdoor conversations. Police Chief Greg Thomas countered that the cameras were used for finding a person considered suicidal and assisting in finding him. The data on the cameras is stored for 30 days.
