Yemen's Houthis have launched a missile strike against Israel, marking the first time the Tehran-backed militia has intervened in the U.S.-Israeli-led war against Iran. The strike was reportedly in support of Iran's regime and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that its aerial defenses intercepted the threat. This move indicates an escalation in the conflict, which began with airstrikes on Iranian targets on Feb. 28. The Houthis may also attempt to disrupt maritime traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which accounts for 12% of seaborne oil trade and 8% of liquefied natural gas.
