Kate Strickler, a 37-year-old Charleston resident, spent over eight hours creating a 15-foot March Madness bracket out of Painter's Tape for her son, Johnny, in 2025. The project was completed when Johnny returned from school and was surprised with the creation of the bracket. The family updated the names of the teams on the wall throughout the tournament, with Johnny taking most of the updates. Stricklers' efforts have been successful, with her viral videos of the project inspiring other moms. She credits the experience for teaching her that "the smallest things could be such a big thing."
