'My heart's broken': Elephants Delicatessen CEO speaks about fire on NW location

A fire that started about 1 a.m. Tuesday in Northwest Portland has severely damaged Elephants Delicatessen, one of the longest-standing restaurants in the world. The fire began outside the building and spread inside and then moved to the roof. The CEO, Martin Macclanan, expressed his heartbreak over the loss and vowed not to abandon the business or its employees. The damage includes areas that were "burned and charred" and some of the remaining damage is either smoke or water damage.
