Concerns over police capacity to tackle violence against women and girls

The UK's National Police Service (PSNI) Chief Constable, Jon Boutcher, has raised concerns about the force's ability to tackle violence against women and girls. He believes there is an increasing "acceptance around misogyny" and has referred the police response to the Police Ombudsman's report. The proposed draft multi-year budget for the PSNI is yet to be agreed upon, with a potential gap of £65m next year, which would rise to £96m the year after that and £118m by 2028-29.
