Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel, The Devil Wears Prada, inspired by her real-life experience as Anna Wintour's assistant at Vogue magazine. The novel, which also inspired the 2006 cult classic film, was published in 2003 and is now being hailed as a true story. Despite similarities between the story and her own life, Weisberg maintains that "nothing" in the book was based on her former Vogue editor-in-chief. The film and book, however, have been criticized by fans for their portrayal of Miranda Priestly as a fictional character. The author has always maintained that Miranda was entirely fictional, but many fans have long suspected otherwise.
