Gets Real: Sober living home for Muslim women opens in Federal Way

The House of Du’a, the first culturally-responsive faith-based women’s recovery residence in the State of Washington, has opened in Federal Way. The home, which can accommodate up to six women, is geared towards Muslim women battling alcohol and drug addiction. Founder of Rahma Recovery, Hussein Ugas, said the organization urgently opened the home due to the stigma and shame surrounding addiction in the Muslim community. The goal is to give residents six to 12 months in the home to help them get back on their feet and on the road to recovery.
