A bill has been passed in the Tennessee legislature to increase the number of scholarships within the state's school voucher program to 35,000. The bill, which originally intended to be 40,000, was amended down to 45,000 and passed unanimously in the House and is now headed to Gov. Bill Lee's desk. Critics argue that the scholarships take taxpayer money away from public schools and that the money is not always used for the intended purpose of education.
