NYU professors go on strike for raises, job security; classes continue

A New York University faculty union has gone on strike for raises and job security, affecting about half of the university's full-time faculty members. The strike was initiated by members of the Contract Faculty United-UAW, who are not on a track to earn tenure. The university has offered a comprehensive package, including the highest minimum salaries of any unionized contract faculty in the country.
