Aurora community members are leading a push to restore the Northgate Shopping Center’s historic sign, which has been in disrepair since the 1950s. Tracy Duran and George Gutierrez are leading the effort, which involves raising funds for the restoration and hiring a company to fix the sign's structural issues, including a potential relit using LED lights. The Northgate Sign Restoration Project is also partnering with DB Woodworks to create small-scale replicas of the sign. If restored, the sign could bring more people and businesses back to the area, and it could also help identify Aurora as a landmark. However, any changes made to the sign need to be approved by the city.
