The Senate District 26 Republican primary between Senate President Phil Berger and Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page, was the most-discussed legislative race in North Carolina. Currently, Page leads Berger by two votes as both candidates await the outcome of any incoming military votes and provisional ballots. Elections officials in Rockingham county and Guilford County have reported that there are currently 137 provisional ballots in their respective counties, with an estimated 52 provisional ballots for the race. Meanwhile, Page has expressed concerns about the post-election day process, questioning the decision by the Rockingham Board of Elections to close its office for part of Wednesday, which he believes could impact people trying to cure provisional ballots and potentially cause confusion with the process. He also called on State Auditor Dave Boliek to recuse himself from any role in the process, citing a previous issue regarding his campaign finance reports.
