She was inspired by her mother's health crisis after a house fire left her with severe lung damage and doctors dismissed her symptoms as psychological. She reached out to the hospital's chief executive, who diagnosed vocal cord dysfunction, a rare condition that had been overlooked. Taylor returned to school and earned a master's degree at Quinnipiac University before studying for medical school. She plans to advocate for patients who have been dismissed, and hopes her story will inspire others to continue their education.
