Spotify has launched Taste Profile, a new feature that surfaces the algorithmic model the platform has been building about each listener and allows users to modify it directly. The feature, announced at SXSW by co-CEO Gustav Söderström, will be available to Premium subscribers in New Zealand in the coming weeks. Taste Profile aggregates a listener’s behaviour across music, podcasts, and audiobooks into a single view, showing genres explored recently, the artists listened to most, and patterns that define a listening day. Users can flag any content that is wrong, heavy on music played years ago, or missing a phase they have been quietly working through. The company cited an internal figure that over 80% of its listeners value personalisation as what they value most about the service.
