Logan Airport has launched TSA Precheck Touchless ID, a new technology that allows travelers to pass through security checkpoints without needing to present a physical passport or Real ID. The system uses facial recognition to verify the identity of enrolled passengers and is designed to reduce time at security checkpoints. To participate in the service, passengers must be enrolled in TSA PreCheck and opt in through participating airlines' mobile applications. The technology is designed for faster and easier access to passengers' passport information and facial scan in less than 10 seconds. While the technology offers efficiency, it introduces different security considerations compared to traditional passwords due to the permanent nature of biological data, which could pose significant risks if a security breach.
