Athena's abandoned owl, previously believed to be dead, is thriving at Austin Wildlife Rescue and being fed a high-protein diet four times a day. The owl was rescued from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center after one of Athena's two owlets died in mid-April and the second was believed to have abandoned the nest due to low temperatures. The rescue was successful, with the owl being introduced to a surrogate owl to teach survival skills.
