The Ford Transit City electric van has been designed to help cost-conscious contractors and delivery fleets navigate challenges such as clean air zones, rising fuel costs, and strict neighborhood noise restrictions. The vehicle is designed around a 56 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, sending power to a 110 kW electric motor driving the front wheels. The new Ford Pro Transit City offers commercial customers a range of up to 254 km, more than double the distance they need to travel. The battery is reportedly more suited to frequent DC fast charging than conventional li-ion chemistries, making it a practical choice for urban businesses that require mid-shift charging with minimal downtime. Other features include a 12″ central touchscreen and a heated seats for drivers.
