China's waste incineration power plant in Yongfeng County, east China's Jiangxi Province, is facing a "happy dilemma" as there is not enough waste to operate at full capacity. This is due to the success of local waste reduction efforts and the growing efficiency of county's recycling and collection systems. The plant is sourcing waste from neighboring areas and considering reclamation of old landfills to use legacy waste as fuel. This shift in industrial waste management has led to a significant transformation, with industrial waste now reaching 57 percent. China's progress in solid waste resource utilization is also visible across the country. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has promoted the comprehensive utilization of industrial solid waste, and improved technological equipment and improved waste governance. The State Council of China has set clear goals for 2030, aiming to achieve an annual volume of 4.5 billion tonnes.
