She stated that Europe was paying a high price for its reliance on fossil fuels, citing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz as proof. Oil prices have risen more than 50% since the start of Operation Epic Fury, with an extended closure of the Strait potentially leading to a shortage of jet fuel. The EU's hostility to domestic fossil fuel production has left it dependent on foreign sources of energy, and it has agreed to ration natural gas in 2022.
