Georgia wildfires: State’s largest fires 10-15% contained; mandatory burn ban in effect

The Georgia Forestry Commission responded to 34 new wildfires across the state on Wednesday, with the largest, the Pineland Road fire in Clinch County, only 10% contained. The Highway 82 fire in Brantley County is only 15% contained with over 4,438 acres burned. Governor Brian Kemp has declared a State of Emergency for 91 Georgia counties, which will remain in effect for 30 days. The mandatory burn ban is in place for the lower half of the state.
