The makers of David protein bars, which launched in late 2024, are being sued by a class-action lawsuit alleging they contain up to 83% more calories and 400% more fat content than they claimed. The lawsuit claims that the nutrition labels are not being honest and that an FDA-accredited lab tested the bars. The company has been accused of using deceptive practices in labeling and marketing the calories and fat content in its products. The discrepancy could cause macro measuring to be out of whack, giving consumers a false impression of their daily intake. Co-founder Peter Rahal maintains that the nutritional facts on the label are accurate and that the lab and others misunderstands how the FDA calculates calories.
