Police in Tempe, Arizona have submitted a felony charge against Ava Bellowe, a then-19-year-old suspected of a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed motorcyclist Joseph Gonzalez. The incident occurred on Sept. 13, 2025, after Bellowo, an Arizona State University student, was drinking at Tempe Tavern near campus and later walked home and got into a car. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has yet to decide whether to pursue the charge. The crash led to a major sting at the bar, where hundreds of underage drinkers were cited and state liquor officials recommended the bar's liquor license be revoked.
