Court temporarily allows Perplexity AI shopping 'agents' on Amazon

A U.S. appeals court has temporarily allowed Perplexity AI to use its AI-powered shopping 'agents' on Amazon's platform. The company had been sued by Amazon in November for allegedly accessing private Amazon customer accounts through its Comet browser and AI agent, and disguising automated activity as human browsing. The lawsuit also claimed that Perplexic's system posed security risks for customer data and had ignored repeated requests to stop. However, the appeals court found that the lawsuit lacked merit and rejected the attempt to block Amazon users from using Comet.
