A court order has ruled that the ousted Subnautica 2 CEO, Ted Gill, must be reinstated and given control over the Steam early access release of the undersea survival game. This decision comes after a legal dispute between Gill and new studio owner Krafton, who replaced them in 2025 in an attempt to avoid a $250 million earnout bonus. The Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery stated that Krafton breached the Equity Purchase Agreement (EPA) by terminating the Key Employees without valid Cause and seizing operational control of Unknown Worlds. Gill's reinstatement means he can proceed with the early access launch of SubnAutica 2 when he deems it appropriate.
