She Refused An Arranged Marriage At 15. Now She Manages A Safari Lodge At 26

Sarah Clemence Kibambazi, a 26-year-old woman who fled her village to escape an arranged marriage at age 15, became one of the youngest female safari camp managers in Tanzania ten years later. She now works at Nomad’s Sand Rivers lodge in southern Tanzania. Despite being expected to marry as a teenager, Kibamazi chose to focus on family over pursuing a profession. She began studying psychology to help people in her community who have faced challenges similar to her own. KibAmbazi was promoted to the position of assistant manager at the lodge within three years. She also became the youngest and only the second female manager and currently holds a field management position in the company.
